We provide lunchtime and after school clubs in four different primary schools across Newport, where the children learn about different styles and genres of music, and have the opportunity to have a go at playing instruments and writing music themselves.
Parent & Toddler Groups
We organise our own Parent & Toddler Music Group which meets at St Martin’s Church in the Gaer, as well as regularly visiting four other groups across Newport to provide musical entertainment.
We provide six week courses that encourage learning and interaction between parents and their children, as part of the Family Learning Programme at the Gaer Primary School.
How you can help
1. Invest your money
We’re completely reliant on income from donations and grants to be able to get Eli Music going. We’re looking for supporters to partner with us and make a regular monthly donation to allow this amazing work to go ahead.
- £10 a month would pay for weekly tuition sessions with a young person
- £20 a month would pay for weekly workshops with parents and toddlers
- £50 a month would pay for a weekly music club in a primary school
- £100 a month would help support a Music Development Worker to co-ordinate the work
2. Set up a standing order yourself online if you have access to internet banking.

2. Invest your time
We’d love to provide one to one, or small group instrumental tuition to children and young people who cannot afford private lessons. We are looking for experienced instrumentalists with a heart for young people to volunteer their time to teach.
Could you give 1-2 hours a week to help teach an instrument?Get in touch
3. Invest your old instrument
We want to provide opportunities for children and young people to learn how to play different musical instruments. Unfortunately not everyone can afford to buy even a beginner’s instrument. If you have an old instrument that you don’t use any more, please donate it to the Eli Music project, so we can lend it to a young musician.
