“You should come in here, it’s well fun!” was just one of the affirming comments that was overheard from a child shouting to his friend across the street.
A usually peaceful and reflective Sunday was taken over by just over 50 children and adults at St Teilo’s Church Hall in Alway, Newport for our first Messy Church.

It was great to host the Fresh Expressions Vision Day today in Aberystwyth, along with the fantastic Andrew Roberts.
As well as the main sessions, I was also asked to use one of the seminar slots to tell some of the story of The Lab and share some of our learning from the last seven years or so of exploring pioneer ministry in Newport.

It's now less than two weeks until the Newport mission shaped ministry course begins.
So far we're looking to have a good number of people join us from our Lab communities, from other churches across Newport and several people travelling in from the surrounding area. But there's still room for a few more.

The Eli Music Project is a new Lab initiative, which will be created to serve Newport and the surrounding areas by providing opportunities for children and young people to develop through music.

Recently James, Justin, Matt and Abbie went on a road trip to Lampeter to the Governing Body of the Church in Wales.
Basically it's a big meeting with lots of important people.
James led our half-hour presentation about the Lab, it's history and it's projects in Alway, Duffryn and the Young Adult community. We were honoured to be asked to present at this convention, and thrilled at the reception and encouragement we were given.

But first we have some Spring cleaning to do to sort out the Lab house gardens.
On Saturday 23rd February we're having a Work Party to try and tackle the massive task of cutting the garden back! If you would like to help in a little way or a big way post on the event wall on Facebook or get in touch with Matt.

It's come around incredibly quickly and all the final preparations are coming together. In the build up to the weekend, we've been posting advance previews here on the blog.
