The Alway Project

Over summer 2008, The Lab began work in the Alway estate on the edge of Newport, moving five young adults into the first Lab House to invest time into the local community and build relationships with local young people.

  • Alway has been identified as one of the most deprived areas in Wales.
  • According to the 2001 census, nearly 50% of the population of Alway and the surrounding area is under the age of 25.

To grow a community of young adults released to undertake mission and ministry in Alway.

We believe that this kind of residential community could have an incredible long term effect on the community of Alway – from fulfilling real, physical needs through to the emotional and spiritual needs of the community and local young people.
