The Lab has a great team of staff, gap-year apprentices and volunteers. We work together to discern where God is calling us as a community.

james
Revd James Henley
Team Leader
James has been with The Lab for the last seven years, working to lead our team, develop young leaders and provide a vision for all we do. He also provides a lead for our missional hub on the Duffryn estate and is curate at St Paul’s Church. James is an Ordained Pioneer Minister in the Church in Wales, and a¬†Fresh Expressions¬†Associate. He’s married to Amy, and has a little girl called Evie.

Jess Davis
Administrator
Jess Davis provides our administrative support, and is usually the first port of call for any inquiries to do with The Lab. Jess studied languages at university in Aberystwyth, and speaks four of them. She is married to Matt and lives as part of the hub in Alway.

Sarah Gregory
Music Development Worker
Sarah co-leads our new Eli Music project, sharing her love of music with children and young people. Before that, she worked for two years as part of our team on the Alway estate. Sarah plays guitar and is a talented singer/songwriter in her spare time.

Matt Davis
Alway Hub Leader
Matt joined the Lab team in 2011 and has stayed with us since then. He is responsible for continuing to develop our community on the Alway estate, and is currently training for Ordained Pioneer Ministry. Matt, and his wife Jess, live as part of our missional hub in Alway.

Laura Bliss
Youth Work Apprentice (Alway)
Laura has been with us for the last year, and is now part of our Alway hub team. Laura grew up in the Alway/Ringland area, and before joining us studied Engineering at College.

Ed Hodge
Ty Sign Hub Leader
Ed leads our new Ty Sign hub, as well as training as a Methodist Local Preacher. He has several years of experience working with young people, and has recently completed his degree in youth & community work and practical theology. In his spare time, he’s a ukulele fanatic.

Philippa Traynar
Youth Work Apprentice (Ty Sign)
Pip is a Lab veteran having spent a year with us in 2013-14. After a year at Bangor Cathedral in North Wales, she is back as part of our new Ty Sign hub. Pip studied psychology in Newport, and enjoys singing in community choirs in her spare time.
